Committee Mandate

The International Press Corporation is the backbone of MUN documentation: it unites journalists who document committee proceedings and craft opinion pieces based on their insights. The IPC also conducts interviews, produces feature stories, and blogs highlighting key decisions made in the United Nations. Through its work, the IPC amplifies delegate voices and creates a culture of complex debate and journalistic excellence.

The main goal of the IPC is perfection when it comes to paperwork, but it also fosters thoughtful debate amongst journalists from different newspapers, who will aim to attain consensus regarding the agenda. The objective is not to enforce rigid rules but to instead spark thoughtful discussion about where ethical and legal parameters should lie, ensuring accountability while also respecting legitimate security concerns. Journalists must navigate dilemmas like protecting sources without justifying misinformation, demanding transparency without compromising safety, and reporting the truth without abusing press freedom.
